Parenting Support
LC2 schools are committed to working in partnership with parents to ensure the best outcomes for young people. Support offered to parents includes:
- information sessions for all parents at key transition points in their children's lives, particularly as they move from lower to middle school.
- parenting groups and programmes
- family learning sessions
- specialised support for parents who might need it, for example, parents whose children have problems with attendance or behaviour at school, and
- information on the advice and support available to parents – through national helplines and websites, and the local family support service
LC2 Parenting Support Assistants (PSAs)
Parents can receive support and advice from our Parenting Support Assistants. They offer 1:1 parenting support over 8/10 weeks, referrals to other agencies, group courses to include: Parenting Puzzle, Being Assertive, Parents Apart, Fives to Fifteens Parenting programme, One Stop Parent Shop and Growing Pains (these will be offered at various times throughout the school term and can, in some cases, be delivered to individuals rather than groups). National Family Mediation Helpline
Mediation can help separating parents negotiate the best arrangements for the children and help manage conflict. The National Family Mediation Helpline offers information on mediators in your area.
Domestice violence affects men too, this is a confidential service for men who are victims of domestic violence/abuse. You can also call 0808 801 0327 Monday - Friday 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm.
